Summary
I reported on my first Your Library Limited meeting as a Council representative, which included the AGM and a board meeting. I thanked the Rowville CFA volunteers for the annual Santa run, spoke about Knox Carols and the Royal Australian Navy Band, and presented the Tirhatuan Ward award at Rowville Primary School. I also attended the Christmas Makers and Bakers Market run by the Rotary Club of Rowville Lysterfield.

Thank you, through you, Mayor. This afternoon I attended my first Your Library Limited meeting as the new Council representative, with Councillor Lockwood. We had the AGM and a board meeting after that this afternoon. So I wanted to acknowledge Councillor Baker's contribution to that board, and I look forward to representing the views of Council and celebrating our fantastic libraries in the years ahead.
Over the weekend, a shout out to the Rowville Fire Brigade, the CFA in Rowville, for the Santa run, the annual Santa run on Saturday and Sunday, where Santa hops up on the back of the Rowville CFA fire truck and, I think, gets to almost every street in Rowville and Lysterfield, maybe even a little bit wider. The sirens were blaring at about 8:30 yesterday morning, so it was certainly an early morning wake-up call, but one that the kids loved. And they're throwing lollies to the kids along the streets, and it's certainly an annual tradition in our street. All the neighbours gather and enjoy the moment, and the kids really love it, but it wouldn't be possible without the efforts of the Rowville CFA and all their volunteers who make it happen. So thank you.
I echo the sentiment about carols on Saturday. We timed our run a little bit later in the evening to make sure we could still be alive and well for fireworks when they hit at 9:30. So we saw the second half of the main program, and yes, what an incredible night. The MC, Bernard Curry, was fantastic. The Knox Factor performances, the CADs Dance Academy, and to hear that the Royal Australian Navy Band only supports one carols service every year, and they choose Knox every year, I think is a real reflection on the professionalism and polish that the event has. It's one that I'm particularly proud of, and it was great to see so many thousands of our fellow residents and community turning out in force.
On Friday the 12th, I attended the Rowville Primary School assembly to present the Tirhatuan award to a student there who was nominated for their outstanding community spirit and contribution to the school community. So that was a nice moment, and congratulations to Rowville principal Anne Babich and her assistant Shae White on another fantastic year, and for the great work they do at Rowville Primary School.
On Sunday the 7th, I attended the Makers and Bakers Market in Rowville. This is an initiative of the Rotary Club of Rowville Lysterfield. They're really hitting their stride now with this market. The Christmas one, I think, was the busiest one this year. I think I've been to four in a row now, and all the stalls are doing well. There's some fantastic arts and crafts, and everything locally made. So, for those that didn't get down to it this year, have a look at the Rotary Club of Rowville Lysterfield Makers and Bakers Market in 2026.
And I think that's it. I might submit a few more points in writing. Thank you.
