Thank you, Mayor. And I'll too acknowledge Ray Siegersma, who, I think I got that right, because Ray told me how to get it right at the Knox volunteer awards a bit earlier this year. So congratulations, Ray, on your taking out of the Knox Local Heroes, part of the Westfield initiative, and congratulations on securing the grant for the shed initiative and Rotary Club. So, congratulations.
I'd like to acknowledge, and I did forget to do this at the last monthly meeting, all of the Joey Scouts across Knox who recently attended Kangaree, which was a two-night, three-day camp down at Bay Park Scout Camp in Mount Martha, run at the end of September. It was a huge milestone for many of our youngest scouts in Knox, with many experiencing their first time away from home, including my son. From all reports it was a fantastic event, building independence and life skills while sharing adventures and making friends. Special thanks to the excellent and caring leaders at 1st Rowville Scouts, and all the scout leaders and adult supporters across Knox who made this very formative event possible for our young people.
I'd like to mention last Sunday's Scoresby CFA open day. It was a fantastic success. I was down there for several hours. I think the CFA said there was about 600 people came through during the day. Many were engaged with fire preparedness as we get closer to the fire season, but also just to have a look behind the curtain at the station. They're on quite a block down there. And it was certainly an action-packed day. During the event, there was a fire alarm went off in Wantirna South, so a couple of the fire trucks came to life in a real way and had to head off. So it was very exciting, and I send my congratulations to the leadership team at the Scoresby CFA, and to several other vendors, including Heavenly Sweets and Treats, who came out and supported a community safety initiative.
I'd note the Rotary Club of Rowville Lysterfield Makers and Bakers Market, which was October 5th, which certainly showcased the strength of our local creative economy and social enterprise. They've got a great platform there that Rotary supports for our local artisans and food producers, including The Greatest Doughman, The Source Candle Co and The Basin Backyard. And I'd send my thanks to President Bob and all of the Rowville Lysterfield Rotarians who organise the monthly market, and we're certainly in discussions with them about how we can do our best to help them support and promote the market each and every month.
A few other ward issues, just quickly. Concerns regarding the condition of a street tree in Rowville. I've appreciated the support and assistance from officers in assisting and providing my resident with some information. And I will ask a few questions later in the agenda, through the chair, on behalf of the resident in my ward, relating to the concerns about a particular street tree in Rowville.
